Ronald Arnold BRADFORD was born 3 April 1922 at 2 Court, Finlay Street, Sheffield the middle one of three brothers. Ron as he was known to his family, joined the army in March 1945 shortly before his 22nd birthday. His occupation was a vertical miller which is was a reserved occupation. After serving just a few months he was transferred to the Reserve Corps and was sent to the Normanhurst Court POW camp down at Battle until 1947 after which he returned to Sheffield. He married his first wife Marjorie LEMONS on 11 March 1949 and lived with her father in Fawcett Street. About 1950 they moved to their own house at 20 Finlay Street, which was where his mother was living at the time of his enlistment into the army and his brother Derek and his wife were living at the time of their son Dereks' birth. They lived at Finlay Street until 1959 when they moved with their children Ronald and June to Raeburn Road on the Herdings estate. Ron remarried after Marjorie died in 1967, to Sheila Taylor who worked at the same company A. R. Heathcote at Sylvester Gardens, Sheffield.

Father of the bride (me) in 1972. If you think he looks ill, it's because he was - three months later he was in hospital after having part of his stomach took away after suffering from ulcers for years.
