Arthur Risdale CHATTERTON was born on 22 June 1909 in Attercliffe (address not known) and died in Hallamshire Hospital on 5 May 1992. Arthur married Sarah Ann BENSON (Sally) after meeting her in a walking club. Arthur and Sally lived in Lord Street, Park, Sheffield after their marriage and later moved to Ulley Road, Woodthorpe, Sheffield. Arthur worked at Salmon Pastures (picture in Sheffield and later at Bramah's, Halfway as a sheet metal worker. Sally and Arthur retired within a few months of each other having bought a static caravan the previous year at Torksey in Lincolsnire where Sally's sister also had a caravan. They spent many happy days there for over eight years until Arthur had to give up driving. Soon after Sally's death in 1982 Arthur moved into a flat on the Longley estate where he lived for another ten years.
